Obituary

Winnie Stafford Lester, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on March 4, 2025, at the age of 94. She was a light in the lives of all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience.

Born on June 2, 1930 in Eagle Mills, AR, Winnie dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting her three sons. Her selflessness shone brightly in her tireless work alongside her sons Phil and Mark in their moving business, where she delighted in packing and helping others prepare for new journeys. Her hands, which skillfully wrapped each treasured item, reflected her attention to detail and unwavering support for her family.

As a devoted Christian, Winnie's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a tireless prayer warrior, spending countless hours in prayer for her family, friends, and community. Her commitment to her faith extended beyond her home, as she joyfully taught children's Sunday School at Cullendale Assembly of God, imparting her love for the Lord to the next generation.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Verda Stafford, her husband, Dwight Lester; a son, Steve Lester; a great-grandson, Brandon Bailey; her brothers, James, Edward, John, Gerald, Douglas and Richard Stafford and her sisters, Becky Mogle, Maude Evelyn Williams and Beverly Stafford.

Winnie is survived by her two sons, Phil Lester of Magnolia, AR and Mark Lester and his wife, Johnna of Camden, AR; seven grandchildren, Lindsey Wilson (Jason), Lacey Schroeder (Todd) both of Camden, Kimberly Lester of Magnolia, Kirbee Young (Taylor) of Baton Rouge, LA, Phillips Lester (Corri) of Houston, TX, Jonathan Lester (Tori), of Plano, TX, Tess Lester of Houston, TX; nine great-grandchildren, Lyla Lester, Bryson and Joseph Guidry, Tristan and Dawson Wilson, Peyton and Skylar Schroeder and Caroline and Mary Kate Young, several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

A graveside service will be held, where friends and family are invited to gather at 2 P.M., Thursday, March 6 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Camden. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Special thanks from the family to the staff at Silver Oaks Nursing Home, especially her nurse Christyl, who provided such loving care to her during the final year of her life.
