William H. Proffitt, 76, passed away on March 27, 2023. He was born on April 23, 1946, in Bastrop, LA to Mose and Mable Scott Proffitt. William was known by several nicknames, including Horse Trader or the Swap Shop Man. He was always making a deal on something. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He loved spending time with his family and friends. William really enjoyed being with his dog Bocephus his trusted companion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Proffitt; daughter, Erica Clemons; and a son, William Richard Proffitt. He is survived by his daughter, Angie Stringfellow and husband, Ronny of Hampton, AR; a sister, Doris Haltom and her husband, Don of Jackson, MS; grandsons, Zach Rinheart, Tyler Clemons, Houston Clemons and Dylan Dees and wife, Shelby all of Locust Bayou, AR; great grandchildren, Blaikley Dees, Kohen Dees, and Kolt Dees; K-9 companion, Bocephus; and a host of family and friends.

A memorial service will be 2:00PM Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Proctor Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice or charity of choice.
