William D. Poindexter, 96, died January 18, 2023. He was born April 17, 1926, in Stephens, AR to Dawson and Oda Poindexter. Mr. Poindexter was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stephens and a WWII veteran of the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Poindexter; a daughter, Gloria Elliott; two brothers, Jack and Sanders Poindexter; a sister, Francis Giles; two half-brothers, Jerry Poindexter and Sonny Poindexter and a son in law, Bill Glisson.

William is survived by two daughters, Judy Beasley (Fred) and Debra Glisson; a son-in-law, David Elliott; six grandchildren, Chris, Carl, Zach, Eric, Jason and Ashley; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Don Poindexter; a sister, Betty Greenlee and several nieces and nephews.

Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Services will be 2:00 Saturday, January 21, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Stephens with Sandy Carter officiating followed by interment at Stephens Cemetery.  Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 at the church.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 223 W.
