Wanda Slaughter Russell
Riley
October 17, 1943 — October 13, 2026
Camden, AR
Wanda Slaughter Russell Riley entered this life on October 17, 1943, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 13, 2026, just four days shy of her 83rd birthday.
Born in Stephens, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Albert Middleton Slaughter and Mertice Roberts Slaughter. For years she was the store manager of the Green Stamps Store in Camden, next to the Piggly Wiggly, until it closed. She later spent fifteen years working several jobs caring for those in need.
Wanda was a woman of deep faith and was a member of Elliott Baptist Church in Camden. She had an immense love for her family and friends. Whenever she and her girlfriends cooked up some mischief, Wanda was right in the middle of it, and she loved telling those stories to her grandchildren afterward, usually with herself as the punchline. Whether it was "rolling a yard" on Halloween with Linda Pickett and gang, holding the ARKLA Gas Meter man hostage so he wouldn't turn the gas off, or scheming with countless others through the years, she always kept her family and friends in stiches.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marcus "Don" Riley; her former husband, Bob Russell; her sisters, Sarah Clay and Joyce Magby; her brother, Phillip Wade Slaughter; and her grandson, Jason Russell.
Survivors include her sons, Bob Russell Jr. (Jeanne) of Falls Church, Virginia, and Rick Russell (Flo) of Elliott; her stepsons, Marcus Riley (Jennifer) and Henry Riley (Connie), and John Riley (Shelia) all of Stephens; her grandchildren, Brooke Russell of Camden, Laura Daniel (Austin) of Dallas, Jack Russell (Brittany) of San Diego, Kate Russell (Gunner) of Dallas, and Spencer Russell (Gwen) of Alameda, California; and her great-grandchildren, Austin McDonald of Locust Bayou and Brandon McDonald of Harmony Grove; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
