Obituary

Victor Lamar Newton, 53, passed away on January 31, 2025. He was born on June 21, 1971, in Bearden, AR to Billy Ray and Tereta Newton Johnson. Victor accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful believer until his earthly transition.

He was a 1990 graduate of Bearden High School. After high school, he attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello and later continued his education at Southern Arkansas University Tech in East Camden. Victor also served in the Army National Guard for seven years, achieving the rank of Specialist(E-4). Victor was employed at General Dynamics for several years before becoming the owner and operator of Newton Transport, LLC. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and doing lawn work. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Victor was preceded in death by his father, Billy R. Johnson; grandparents, Wilson and Mabelline Johnson and Raymond and Christine Newton; also, he was preceded by Johnny Lee and Georgia Lee Bradley who were major influences in his life.

Victor is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Angela Newton. Their union was blessed with one son, Tyrese Lamar Newton of Camden, AR. He is also survived by his mother, Tereta Johnson; his sister, Kari Lynn Williams, both of Camden, AR; two sons, Dexter McRae and wife, Kendra of Texas and Defonte Lowe and his wife, Shantel of Arkadelphia, AR; and one daughter, Miesha Smith of Locust Bayou, AR; Victor also leaves behind nine grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other cherished relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:00AM at Proctor Funeral Home with interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chidester, AR. A visitation will take place on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00PM-8:00PM. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
