Sarah Beth Laney, 83, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Born on March 10, 1942, in Camden, Arkansas, Sarah was a lifelong resident of Camden until she moved to Fort Smith in 2014 to be closer to family.
A 1960 graduate of Fairview High School, Sarah lived a life marked by kindness, faith, and a genuine love for people. She was a dedicated member of Cullendale First Baptist Church, where she joyfully taught 3rd and 4th grade Sunday School for many years. Her career was spent serving others through her work in the Radiology Department at Ouachita County Hospital, where she was known for her warmth and dependable spirit.
Sarah had a captivating smile and a personality that made everyone feel welcome. She loved sharing coffee and dessert with friends, playing cards, and bringing family together at every opportunity. Her gentle presence and love for fellowship will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David Curtis Laney and Sarah Bethel Davis Laney, and her brother-in-law, Dick Maxwell.
Sarah is survived by her beloved siblings: Brother, David Laney, Jr. and wife, Linda Laney; Sisters, Joyce Maxwell; Linda Lee and husband Dr. Jim Lee.
She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who adored her and lovingly called her "Sissy": Beth Kiker (Lonnie); Sally Scott (Doug); Marcy Maxwell; Molly Maxwell; Dr. Jim Maxwell (Janna); Lawrence Lee; Melinda Adams (Dave); and Dr. Amanda Barnett (Jerry).
Her great-nieces and nephews, who brought her tremendous joy include Taylor Kiker (Karley); Carson Kiker (Emily); Dr. Jake Scott; Katie Scott; Claire Cabaness; Anna Beth Cabaness; Dr. Kendall Martin (Will); Gresham Maxwell; Mason Adams; Kamryn Adams; and Joslynne Barnett.
Sarah's legacy of kindness, faith, and love for family will be cherished forever.
A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, AR. Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Camden, AR.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cullendale First Baptist Church in Camden, AR.
