Sarah Jane Johnson, age 82, of Chidester, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 12, 2024. She was born on January 20, 1942, in Camden, Arkansas to Thomas Wesley Word, Sr. and Estella Mae Word.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Charles Johnson, Sr., parents, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Word; two brothers, Wesley Word and Johnny Word and two sisters, Sally Word and Lola Mae Stumpf as well as one son-in-law, Victor Gutierrez and one daughter-in-law, Jenny Johnson.

She is survived by her five children, Thomas Johnson of Chidester, AR, Estella Gutierrez of Frisco, TX, Sherry Hesterly (Patrick) of Benton, LA, Jerry Johnson (Kristi) of Benton, LA and Edgar Johnson (Melissa) of Chidester, AR.

She has fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and seven sisters, Mildred Caron, Martha Lee Tutt, Rose Dodds, Louise Meeks, Shirley Willsey, Olivette Price, Claudette Kaunitz, and one sister-in-law, Caroline Word as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

She was a very passionate woman. She was a member of Missouri Methodist Church. She loved working in her flower beds with red roses being her all time favorite. She loved getting on the four-wheeler and playing in the snow.

She was loved by many in her hometown for her service to the elderly by delivering meals and assisting them with daily activities.

Above all, her love for her husband and five children outweighed everything else.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Chidester Baptist Church.
