Sara Frances Edwards Yarbrough was born February 1, 1938, in Camden, AR to Paul Everett Edwards and Frances Coverston Edwards.  She was raised in a little house at 805 Chestnut Street, along with her brother Charles Thomas Edwards, at a time when Camden was a growing city. She had many close neighborhood and school friends that remained so throughout her life. She graduated from Camden High School as valedictorian of her class in 1956.

Sara attended college at HSTC (now Henderson State University). In college she was active in many organizations including Delta Zeta Sorority, where she served as President. In 1960, the student body voted her Outstanding Senior Woman of 1960. She graduated top of her class earning a BSE in Secondary Education with a double major in History and English.

Sara taught school at the secondary level in Irving, TX, Camden, AR, and Monroe, LA. She left a strong impression on her students, many of whom became good friends. During her time teaching in Camden, she met and married the love of her life, William (Bill) Don Yarbrough on August 11, 1967.  Bill, also an educator when they met, later attended and completed Pharmacy School in Monroe, LA. Sara taught school to help support them and cared for their daughter Sherry Diane Yarbrough (Bunten) during this time. After supporting them to get Bill through Pharmacy school, they returned to Camden at the end of 1970 for Bill to begin his career in Pharmacy. It was there, in early 1971, they welcomed their son David Nathan Yarbrough.

Sara "retired" from teaching to be a wife and mother, a job at which she excelled, but when Bill purchased Harrell's Pharmacy, she became his partner in the business, as well.  While Bill was an amazing pharmacist and made the technical side of their business a success, it was Sara who maintained the accounts, the inventory, and most aspects of guiding their many wonderful employes. She was integral to the success of their business, which provided support, care, and service to so many people in the Fairview community and Camden.  Sara and Bill had a significant impact on the lives and livelihood of their long-term employees, as well as the many young boys and girls that served as part-time delivery and stock people in their business over the years.  Essentially all of those who took part in their business developed lasting friendships with both Sara and Bill.

Sara was a lifetime member of the 1st UMC Camden. She was a member of Fairview UMC from 1976-2000 and served as UMW President. She returned her membership to 1st UMC Camden in 2001 and was active in UMW and Al Rose Sunday School Class. Sara was a woman of great faith and conviction, and her love and care for others extended far beyond her works and worship within the church. Her impact on the lives of those who knew her is embodied by the many close and loving friendships and acquaintances that think of her fondly from her years of service as a teacher, co-business owner, homemaker, and daughter of Christ.

Sara passed away peacefully in her sleep early on Easter Sunday morning, April 5, 2026. She was preceded by her parents, her husband Bill, her daughter Diane, her blessed son-in-law Kristopher Michael Bunten, her brother Charles, and her grandmothers Elsie Edwards and Mattie Coverston.  She is survived by her son David and wife Jackie Stegall Yarbrough, her grandson Jarod Everett Yarbrough and fiancée Linzee Threlkeld, her grandson William Thomas Bunten, her dear friend and mother of Kris, Sandi Webb, her much loved nephew Jeffery Thomas Edwards and his mother Barbara Edwards, and many other cousins and dear close friends.

Visitation shall be held for Sara, Friday, April 10, 2026, at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Graveside Service will be Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Bethesda Cemetery on Mount Holly Road in Ouachita County, AR at 9:30 am. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am at 1st UMC Camden, AR, with a reception immediately following in the Great Hall of the Church. The memorial service will be live streamed on Facebook: First United Methodist Church Camden AR.
