Obituary

Roy Markham Reed of Camden, Arkansas, passed away on September 6, 2026, at the age of 80.  He was born in DeWitt, Arkansas on September 4, 1946, to Lacy Lee Reed and Willie Mae Turner Reed Rhein.   

Roy met the love of his life Joyce Vernor, and they were marred on July 15, 1966.  Soon after their marriage, Roy enlisted into the United States Marine Corp in 1967.  Where He proudly served until 1970, achieving the rank of Sergeant.  Roy served in the Vietnam War as a communications wireman, and received a number of decorations, medals, badges, and commendations.  If he was ever asked if he was a Marine, he always answered, "I am a Marine.  Once a Marine, always a Marine."  Roy enjoyed all types of hunting and was an avid collector of Marine Corps memorabilia. 

Roy was preceded in death by his father, Lacy Lee Reed; his mother, Willie Mae Turner Reed Rhein; his sister, Catherine Idella Reed; his brothers, Luther Lee Reed (Maggie), Don Ray Reed (Floyce), and Vernon Lacy Reed; and his great-grandchild, Milo Emmett McAdoo.

Roy is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Ann Reed; his daughters, Tina Faye Griffis (Gary), Selynda Crystal Tucker (Patrick); his grandchildren, Hannah Danielle Van Dyck (Talon), Grant David Griffis (Olivia), Layne Anthony McAdoo, Evelyn Elayne Tucker; great-grandchildren, Cohen Judah Van Dyke, River Grace Van Dyck; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service with military honors will be graveside at Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens in DeWitt, Arkansas, on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
