Obituary

Roger Polk Purifoy of Camden passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his children, on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born June 4, 1945, in Pueblo, Colorado, to the late Polk and Mary Lou Purifoy. He was a long-time citizen of Camden, Arkansas. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Linda Gail Pickett Purifoy, on May 28, 1965, on the night she graduated from Chidester High school, and they were married for 57 years.

Roger was a loving husband, father, and papaw. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved to pick and play with them. He worked in the Timber business for almost 40 years and met a lot of people he still called friends. He coached softball for over 20 years, anytime he saw a former player he would talk and pick with them, and they would still affectionately call him POPS. After retirement he opened Rogers Flea market one of his greatest passions. He enjoyed all of his customers, loved to visit with them, and would occasionally throw in extra items when they bought some of his treasures. He will be greatly missed, but all can take great joy in knowing that he is with our Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his son and namesake, Roger Polk Purifoy II (Natalie) of Hot Springs; his daughter, Wendy Meeks of Camden. His grandsons Roger "Trey" Polk Purifoy, III (Jordan) of Fort Smith, AR, Skylar Purifoy of Hot Springs, AR, Ryne Meeks (Khia) of Little Rock, AR, Jacob "Jake" Meeks of Greenwood, AR, 4 great grandchildren, Preston Purifoy, Aubrie Meeks, Forrest Meeks and Cannon Meeks; and a host of nieces and nephews. One sister, Phyllis Smith of Camden, AR.

A memorial service will be held and announced at a later date.
