Obituary

Robert "Bob" Frank Tutt 80, passed away on January 11, 2023 at his home in Camden. He was born June 16, 1942 in Camden, AR, the eldest child of John C. and Esther Tutt of Camden. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in E. Camden. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He worked in many public schools across Arkansas since 1966. Many of his former students remember him as "Coach Tutt." Bob worked as a math teacher, basketball coach, principal, and superintendent over the course of his career. For a short period of time when he took a break from education, he worked as a supervisor at General Dynamics.

Bob graduated from Harmony Grove High School in 1959 and loved playing basketball for the Hornets. He also graduated from Henderson State Teachers College with an education degree and played basketball during his undergrad time. He received advanced degrees in education over the years from Henderson State University and Arkansas State University.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tammi Leigh Ray, son Jon David Tutt, stepdaughter Gerri Strickland Stinley, sister Johnette Tutt Marks, and niece Melissa Marks.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Strickland, daughter Gigi Bird (David) of Hot Springs, stepson Greg Stickland (Holly) of Camden, and brother Wayne Tutt (Sherry) of Hot Springs. Grandchildren Jake Bird (Sarah), Brad Bird (Leea) all of Hot Springs, Morgan Betts (Chad) of Camden, and Haley Strickland of El Dorado. Great grandchildren Ben Bird, Andi Leigh Bird, Evie Bird, Levi Bird, Emma Betts, and Hayes Betts. Nephews Tom Tutt, Clem Tutt, and a great niece Brittnye Marks.

Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved family and friends, spending time outside, and relaxing at home. He especially loved making sure his daughters, Gigi and Tammi, knew how much he loved them. During his more active years, he also enjoyed officiating high school basketball games and spending time fishing and hunting with his friends around the Ouachita River.

Visitation will be 1:00-3:00PM Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church, Camden, AR. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in memory of Bob Tutt.
