Reginald Redman Smith died at his home on November 27, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Smith was born in Princeton, Arkansas to the late Gus Allen Smith and Effie Mann Smith. He is predeceased by his wife of nearly 60 years Elizabeth Ann Venable Smith; his son Douglas Redman Smith and brothers Charles Smith and Edmund Smith.

Born October 23, 1932, Mr. Smith graduated from Harmony Grove High School in 1951. Following high school he joined the Air Force and was married to Elizabeth Ann Venable in Niagara Falls New York in February of 1956. Returning to Camden, Reginald began a long career in the timber business. Humble and strong by nature, Reginald knew many people high and low, far and wide. He never met a stranger and he knew almost everyone by their association to timber and land in Ouachita, Union, Dallas, Calhoun, and Nevada counties.

Mr. Smith was a life long Baptist. Baptized as a young man, He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. As a young married man, he and Ann became early members of Hillside Baptist Church in Camden.

Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Regina Ann Flannigan; his grandsons Ryan Reginald Gossett and Douglas Redman Smith Jr.; his granddaughter Kacy Ann Palmer; and seven great grandchildren; and sister Carolyn Smith Counts.

Mr. Smith was a family man, a serious father and a competitive sportsman. He was for many years a familiar face at the Camden Boys Club, a member for many years at BT Hunt Club, a fox hunter, deer hunter, and fisherman. Nothing made him happier than to be outside preferably on his own land. He possessed no desire to explore much beyond his own familiar and comfortable territory.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Proctors Funeral Home in Camden, with interment following at 3:00 PM at Bethesda Cemetery in Camden, Arkansas.

The family would like to thank Dr. Larry Braden and the incredible team of nurses, caregivers, therapists and staff with OCMC Hospice, who took such good care and went above and beyond for our father and grandfather in his final days.
