Peggy Sue Slaughter Jones

Peggy Sue Slaughter Jones died August 23, 2026 at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home in El Dorado, Arkansas. She was born November 02, 1931 to Stella and Neill Slaughter in Camden, Arkansas.

She is survived by her husband of 75 years, James H. (Sonny) Jones; daughter-in-law, Machelle Garner Jones; son-in-law, David Tew; granddaughter, Julia Tew; grandsons, Jason Jones, Stephen Jones (Bridget), Bryan Jones (Susan), Jacob Jones (Melissa) and Caleb Jones (Connie); granddaughter-in-law, Laura Jones. Also survived by great grandchildren, Annie Jones Dupuy (Beau), Allie Jones, Jett Jones, Jordan Jones, Jaydon Jones, Paisley Jones, Judson Jones, Jonah Jones, Rowan Jones and Cora Jones.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Bill and Tommy Slaughter and Rita Slaugher Huddleston. Also by her three children, Deborah Jones Tew, James (Jim) Jones and Richard Jones and his wife, Paula Swartz Jones.

Peggy was a 6th grade Social Studies teacher in the Camden School for 21 years. She was an excellent seamstress, a hobby she enjoyed with her mother. She was also an artist and enjoyed playing the piano. We are grateful for the care provided by Hudson Memorial Nursing Home and Life Touch in her final days.

Funeral service will be 6:00PM Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Elliott Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. The committal service will be held at church for the burial in Union Cemetery.
