Paula Garner Darden, 86, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed into the loving arms of Jesus on August 26, 2022. She was born on December 15, 1935 to Wylie and Gladys Garner. She was a lifelong member of Sulphur Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she initiated the church library, and served as church secretary and pianist. She retired from International Paper Company where she worked as an executive secretary. Mrs. Darden loved her Lord Jesus Christ, her family and studying scripture from the Holy Bible.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mearl Darden, and her great-grandchild, Theo Mathis. She is survived by two daughters: Pamela Shortness (John) of Naperville, Illinois; Angela Tracy (Walt) of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren: Jonathan Mathis (Katie) of Naperville, Illinois; Angela Mathis of Cincinnati, Ohio; Stephen Tracy (Kate) of Cincinnati, Ohio; David Tracy of Los Angeles, CA; and three great-grandchildren: Clay Mathis, Posy Mathis and Londyn Tracy.
Visitation will be held at Proctor's Funeral Home in Camden, Arkansas on Friday, September 2, from 5:00-7:00 in the evening and a funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, September 3, at Sulphur Springs Community Church at 10:00am. A grave-side burial service will be observed at Sulphur Springs Cemetery following the funeral.
