Ollie "Connie" Constance Owen was born on March 22nd, 1933 to Colombus and Euna Mae Trump-Constance in Cameron, Louisiana.  The Sabine Pass Lighthouse and its foghorn kept vigil and it was the center of her childhood. At the age of 8 she took over as mom to her siblings when their mother left to deal with mental health struggles and her daddy left to fish the Gulf for weeks on end to support his children. At the age of 11, she along with her siblings were all separated and placed into different families around the state.  She was then raised by foster parents, Helen and Leroy Williams and went on to reconnect with her siblings and maintain relationships even though they weren't under the same roof. She met the love of her life James Owen on October 7, 1952 at the Texas State Fair and they were married May 29th, 1953.  They welcomed a daughter, Connie Jean in 1954, and soon after a son, James Andrew, affectionately called Andy, who they lost after a few short days. Bruised, but not broken, they were blessed with a healthy baby boy in 1958, who they named Wendill Lee. To be closer to family, they moved to Willisville, Arkansas in 1960. From there they built their home and raised everything from cows, chickens, and crops to what became her biggest joy. Her grandkids. She became not only a wonderful mom, but an amazing Grannie.  And then her grandkids became parents. These were the lucky ones. She didn't have to keep up with as much farming, so she could give the great grandkids all the time in the world.  Her mind started fading but not before she saw the sweetness in her first great great grandson, Travis, his brother Ben came and brought his constant entertainment to her. And she got to meet her match and her namesake in little Ollie.  In her last few years she became hostage to her dementia but she never stopped fighting because her faith brought her through times where most would have given up. Her faith never faltered. She taught her family to believe in God and to pray when they needed guidance. Her unwavering faith gave her the power to defy the odds because she had unfinished business. She got to hear Della's voice and laugh. Faith, willpower, or both, she didn't let go until she knew Rennick made his entrance into a world that her body was ready to leave behind. Our fearless matriarch passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 13th, 2025. She was listening to the sounds of her childhood and the foghorn led her home. She was 92 years old.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Beau Constance, George Constance, and, sisters, Rita Bourne, and Barbara Hooper. Also preceding her were her husband James, and their infant son, Andy, as well as many other loved ones and her bonus mom, her beloved foster mother, aunt, Helen.  She is survived by her brother, Donald Hanson, 3 children, Connie Hooks (Marion), Wendill Owen (Danita); and Jamie Owen (Arlie). She left behind 4 grandchildren, Misty Chanler (Andy), Jamie Owen (Arlie), Luke Haynes (Dana), and Dusty Fitzpatrick (George). There are 5 lucky ones, Alyssa Johnston (Brad), Alaina Hearnsberger (Tyler), Darbi Matevia (Nathan), Madalyn "Mady" Owen, and Daxton "Dax" Haynes.  These next 5, Travis, Ben, Ollie, Della, and Rennick are the last of Grannies legacy.   She also left behind Worden "Bud" Bourne, and Myrna Owen who were her brother and sister through marriage along with more nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends than you can count.  The family would like to give their utmost appreciation and gratitude to all of the staff at Ouachita Nursing and Rehab for their unwavering support and commitment through the last few, and sometimes difficult years. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Proctor Funeral Home from 5:00PM to 8:00PM.  A graveside service will be held at 10:00AM Friday, October 17, 2025 at Wares Cemetery in Emerson, AR.
