Obituary

Norma Jean Rowe, 91, of Scottsboro, Alabama died on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at home after an extended illness.

Jean was born in Camden, Arkansas, on December 15,1933 to Edward Lampkin and Oleta L. Lampkin.

Jean graduated from Chidester High School in 1951. She married her husband, Robert Ellis Rowe, on July 31,1952 in Wichita, Kansas. They had been married for 68 years at the time of his death in 2020.

Jean attended business school and spent her career in bookkeeping. She worked for Local Federal and the Internal Revenue Service prior to their move to Alabama in 1966. Jean became the bookkeeper for several businesses owned by her husband, Bob, and brother-in-law, Dale Rowe, in Guntersville, Alabama. She worked for Faithway Feed Company, Feed Supply and Western Store, and Arkay Trucking Company until her retirement.

Jean is survived by her brother, Donald Lampkin from Chidester, Arkansas and her children: Debra J. Palmer (James), Robert Michael Rowe (Leann), and Lisa A. Reeves (Kevin). She has six grandchildren: Laura Wiese (Nicholas), David Reeves (Courtney), Carson Rowe (Michael), Anna Holcomb (John), Katy Knight (Cole), James Austin Palmer (Kelly), and eight greatgrandchildren: Alden, Parker, Emmy, Henrik, Piper, Leila, Jacie, and Morgan. Jean has many nieces, nephews and friends in Arkansas. They and their families meant the world to her.

Visitation will be from 9:00AM to 10:00AM Tuesday, June 03, 2025 prior to funeral service at 10:00AM at Bell Chapel Church with burial in Bell Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bell Chapel Church in her memory.
