It is with great sadness that the family of Mona Ree (Rogers) Jeffus, 90, announces her passing away at Silver Oaks Health and Rehab on May 9, 2025.  She had been in rehab for five months with making great strides from her major stroke. She amazed everyone with her tenacity.  Unfortunately, she developed an aggressive cancer six weeks before her death.  Once again, she said she was going to fight it, but God had other plans.

Mona was born on July 15, 1934, in Norphlet, Arkansas, to Dentious and Avis Rogers. Mona graduated from Fairview High School in 1952.  She was married to the love of her life, and high school sweetheart,  Hugh Wayne Jeffus on August 23, 1952, until his death in 2018.

Mona enjoyed traveling and watching sporting events.  She especially loved watching two of her grandsons play high school and college baseball.  One of her greatest thrills was attending the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska to watch one of her grandsons play.  She was an avid Razorback fan and loved traveling all over to watch the Hogs play.  Earlier in life, she enjoyed taking cruises, traveling to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Canada with family and friends.  During her working career, she worked at M&P Bank (now Cadence) and The Woodlands.

She loved to entertain, hosting parties, decorating at her church, for wedding receptions, office parties and especially for Christmas.  Many called her hostess with the mostest. She also loved cooking and baking and every meal or dessert was always made from scratch.  She was known around town for her famous homemade hot rolls.  She loved bass fishing and gardening in her yard.  In her younger days, she taught many people how to ski on Lake Greeson.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church and had served on several committees there and was a member of the Rose Couples Sunday School Class. She had also been a member of the New Century Club, Garden Club, Pilot Club, and the area American Cancer Society.

Mona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Hugh Jeffus; a son, Walter Dale Jeffus; her three brothers, William, Walter, and Leo Rogers; her mother and father-in-law, Virgil and Dorothy Jeffus; a great grandson, "Baby Bubs"; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Ruth Renfro; brother-in-law, Rudolph Jeffus; and numerous family and friends.

She is survived by a son, Mike Jeffus (Donna), Texarkana, Arkansas; daughter, Stephanie Jeffus Clyde (Steve), Magnolia, Texas; four grandchildren, Chris, Kenna Jeffus, Garrett (Julia) and Grant (Nikki) Clyde; two step-granddaughters, Amber Runion (Danny) and Amanda Tommie (Demetri); and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister-in-laws, Jan Rogers, Ann Young, and Vicki Jeffus; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank her physical therapists, caretakers, and Jane Hoffman at Silver Oaks and especially our angel on earth, Kathy Daniels.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday at Proctor Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, May 16, 2025 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Beth Waldrup officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery.  Donations may be made to First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
