Obituary

Max Pierce of Camden passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024. Max was born on June 26, 1933, in North Little Rock to the late Louis Noah Pierce and Ellen McClellan Pierce. He was named at birth McClellan Pierce after his mother's family.  When he joined the Air Force, after graduating from Jacksonville High School in 1951, Max was asked for his "full" name. He replied Mackie McClellan Pierce, as he had been called Mackie most of his young life. Mackie was later shortened to Max, the name he was known by for a majority of his adult life.

After his service in the Air Force, Max began a career in bakery sales.  In 1970 he began working for R.C. Edwards Distributing Company in Camden and El Dorado.  In 1979, he began his career with the Blytheville Housing Authority, finally retiring in 2007. Upon retirement, he and his wife Bobbie returned to Camden. They enjoyed traveling, visiting friends and spending time with family.

Max is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bobbie, his daughter, Rendi Currey and her husband Brett, his sons, Mackie Pierce and wife Renee, Nick Pierce and wife Pam, and Dana Pierce and wife Jennie, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Services will be held Sunday May 19, 2024 with visitation at 1:30 and funeral service at 2:30 at Proctor Funeral Home, Camden. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 was Max's favorite charity.
