Martha Virginia Walker Wylie, age 95 went to be with the Lord on March 30, 2024, at her home. She was born December 15, 1928, in Jacinto, Arkansas to Lewis and Annie Virginia Roberts Walker. She graduated from Carthage High School in Carthage, Arkansas. She married the love of her life Robert "Bob" Wylie in July 1949 in Oregon. Martha accepted Jesus when she was 12 years old at the Methodist Church in Jacinto, Arkansas, where her cousin was the pastor. Wife, Mother, Mamaw, sister, aunt and friend were just a few of her names. Anytime she was introduced to her kids/grandchildren friends, she would say "I'm the Mamaw".

Martha loved her family very much; she was always asking how her grand kids and great grands were while she was talking to her children. There was no such thing as a favorite. She loved all of us with everything she had. She loved to travel, make quilts, and go camping at Little Fir campground on Lake Ouachita. In her years of traveling, Martha and Bob covered most of the United States except the northeast. They loved going to Oregon where they lived after being married and made many friends. They were also fortunate to be able to tour the forests of Japan, Russia, New Zealand, and Australia. She was always ready to go when she was able. She would say that she was going to be a little mouse and hop in your back pocket and go with you. She loved making quilts, there is no telling how many quilts she gave away to family and friends. Everyone in the family has at least 3 or 4. She made and quilted many of them herself before "ole" arthritis and poor eyesight stopped her. She loved to crappie fish, where she would be the first to let you know, she beat Bob. She also taught all her grandkids to play cards. She never made it easy on us to beat her either. She loved to cook and bake with all her grandkids. Never missing a moment to spend quality time with her family. Martha was also very proud of her Indian heritage.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 66 years Robert "Bob" Wylie, infant son Jeffery Carroll, sisters Edna Mae Bane, Marjorie Walker, and brother Tom Walker.

She is survived by her son Gordon (Mary) Wylie of Camden, AR, daughters Janell (Benny) Vestal of El Dorado, AR, and Carroll Ann (Robby) Selph of Texarkana, AR. Six grandchildren Michael (Tarah) Wylie, Richard (Julie) Wylie, Stephen (Brooke) Vestal, Meredith (Seth) Jackson, Drew (Haley) Selph, and Trey (Jessica) Selph and 8 greatgrandchildren and brother Bruce (Deanie) Walker of Fordyce, AR. Many nieces and nephews and special friends Freeman and Nancy Hughes. The family would like to express a very special thank you to our mothers' sisters, Debra Ellis, Betha Weaver and Brianna Frazier for the care of their mother.

Visitation will be 1:30-2:00PM Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Hampton Springs Cemetery, Carthage, AR on Highway 48. Graveside service will follow at 2:00PM. Dr. Wade Totty will officiate the service. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
