Obituary

Martha Sue Davis, 74, of Camden, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home, on August 26, 2024. Born on December 21, 1949, in Wharton, Texas, to David Edward and Mae Belle Redden. Martha moved to Camden during high school and fell in love with Donald R. Davis. They married in December of 1967 and Martha would often laugh and exclaim "And we still like each other!" when talking about the life they built.

Martha was primarily a homemaker and an incredibly dedicated mother, attending every recital, practice, and performance. She was the embodiment of a band, cheerleader, and theatre mom. In 2000, she began working at the nursery of the Camden First United Methodist Church. A perfect match, she loved all the children, and the children loved "Mrs. Martha". She retired after 18 years of caring for a countless number of children. Martha was also an avid volunteer for Camden Business Professional Women, selling ads for and often working their annual Barn Sale. In 2010, they named her "Woman of the Year" for her hard work and dedication.

Martha is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose infectious laugh brightened the lives of everyone who knew her.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents David Edward and Mae Belle Redden. She is survived by her husband, Donald R. Davis; her children, Donald "Rob" (Heather) Davis Jr., Michael (Jordan) Davis, and Emily (George) Reeves; grandchildren, Addison (Markie) Davis, Aidan Davis, Maëlle (Michael) Peterson, Camden Davis, and Jasper Davis; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Peterson, Avery Peterson, and Arthur Davis; siblings, Marilyn Keen, Mary Ann (Joseph) Vermeulen, David Allen (Mary) Redden and Marsha Berger; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 31, at the Camden First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Martha's memory to the Camden First United Methodist Church.

Martha's family would like to thank the staff of the OCMC Hospice and Sweet Home Elderly Services for their compassionate care.
