Obituary

In Loving Memory of Leah Kathryn Stinnett

October 28, 1968 – October 31, 2026

Leah Kathryn Stinnett, a lifelong resident of Camden, Arkansas, passed away unexpectedly in her home on October 31, 2026, at the age of 58. Born on October 28, 1968, Leah lived a life defined by her devotion to her community, her passion for serving others, and her vibrant, generous spirit.

Those who knew Leah will forever remember her infectious laugh, her signature "aggressive yet warm" hugs, and her remarkable ability to always find the positive in every situation. Vibrant and fun-loving, she was always up for whatever shenanigans came her way, bringing flair and style everywhere she went with her love of fashion. Leah was a thoughtful gift giver with a huge heart, but her greatest gift to others was her presence—she spoke to people with intentional care, always asking about their loved ones and checking on how they were doing.

Her big heart extended just as deeply to animals. Over the years, she opened her home to rescue and foster countless dogs, loving her own babies—Louise, Molly, Peanut, and Teddy Bear—with all her heart.

A proud 1987 graduate of Harmony Grove High School, Leah began her path of community service as a police officer with the Camden Police Department. She later pursued her calling in education at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, earning her Bachelor of Science in Education in General Science in 1997 and returning to earn her master’s degree in education in 2009.

Leah spent 15 impactful years teaching at Harmony Grove High School, where she served as a Student Council and cheer sponsor and was humorously voted "most likely to be mistaken for a student"—a testament to her youthful energy, effortless style, and close connection with her students. She went on to dedicate 10 years as a Math Specialist at the South-Central Service Cooperative before serving three years as a Math Specialist at Camden Fairview until her passing. When she made the decision to transition to Camden Fairview, she shared that it was truly her calling to go and help—a reflection of the heart, purpose, and dedication she brought to her work every single day.

Leah was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Charles Clyde Stinnett and Nannett Roselyn Stinnett Darvel; mother, Mary Bever, as well as Henry Macon Bever, William Arron Bever, Ferrell Bever, Freddy Bever, and Joy Dale (Joyce) Bever.

She is survived by her sisters, Joanna Stinnett and Sherry Taylor and husband, Bruce; brother, Rusty Stinnett, and his wife, Michelle; her uncle Douglas Bever; her uncle Clyde Gaylon Bever; Claudine Bever; Cathy Bever; aunt Connie Bever; her cousin Brittney Bever Sullivan, her husband Daniel, and their children, Olivia and Hailey; and her cousin Chris Bever, his wife Caitlin, and their children, Calliope and Cassidy. Leah's legacy of service, joy, generosity, and deep compassion will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, students, and community members whose lives she touched so profoundly.

Services will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Prior to the services, a lunch will be provided for family and friends at 11:30 AM at the South-Central Service Cooperative. Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery in Bluff City, AR.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Leah’s honor to the Ouachita County Animal Protection Society (OCAPS).
