Janet
Ferguson
Jan 5, 1932 — Jul 5, 2023
On July 5, 2023, our mother, Janet Ferguson left us for her Heavenly Home. While we grieve for her absence in this life, we know she is safely home with her beloved family who has gone before her.
Janet was the first of 13 children born to Harry A. N. and Mable Johnson on January 5, 1932. She was christened, Elsie Jeanette Johnson, at Melrose Church in Melvin Township, North Dakota. Janet held a deep love and appreciation for her Norwegian heritage and her family history.
The outpouring of love at her passing is evidence of her kind nature and her love for all. She was a beautiful woman, talented in many ways. She had a natural touch for decorating and as a Master doll maker, held a high reputation for perfection. She adored her birds and waited impatiently for their return in the spring along with the first blooms of flowers to appear.
With all the attributes we may assign to her, one was of the utmost importance in her life. This was the attribute of faith. Through the loss of her husband, Pete, her daughter, Sherry, granddaughter, Jenny, grandsons, Brian and Shane, her parents as well as 6 siblings, she stood firm with a strength rarely seen. This is what people truly know about Janet.
We have honored her wishes and laid her to rest with her parents and siblings at her beloved Melrose Cemetery. Considering her great sense of humor, she was driven in style to her final resting place by her dear friends and neighbors, James and Annette Schmidt, in a classic 1956 Dodge Suburban.
She always said "From this soil I was raised and to this soil I wish to return".
We honor this lady, the Matriarch of our family, with her final wishes as we bid our beloved mother good bye. We know it is only for a moment until we see her again.
Children, Wanda, Melody and Charles; Brothers, Art, Gary Wayne, Jerry; Sisters, Donna, Avis, Judi and Dianne; Grandchildren Jon, Ashlea, Jeremy, Amber, Trey, Trevor, Whitney, and Kelsey survive with devotion and lives changed by this wonderful woman. She also leaves her legacy of 19 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren.
If you know Janet, you know that you were truly blessed.
