James Harold "Butch" Wilkins, Jr, 73, of Smackover passed away March 3, 2026 at his home. He was born February 14th, 1953 in El Dorado to James Harold and Lenora Kizzia Wilkins.

Butch was a 1971 graduate of Smackover High School. He was a three-sport athlete, earning All State Honors in both football and track. He held the record in shot put for many years.  While at SHS, he met the love of his life, Ann Ratterree.

He was a 1975 graduate of Henderson State University in Arkadelphia where he chose a track and field scholarship over football. While at Henderson, he and his best buddy, Jim Golden, were hired as repo men for Sears & Roebuck. More notably, he married Ann on January 1, 1972 and they welcomed their first daughter, Allison.

After graduation, Butch returned to Smackover where he and Ann welcomed two more daughters, Alicia and Krissi. He was employed by Cooper Industrial Products until 1985 when he took a job as the sales manager for Smackover Motors.  In 2007, he rejoined his good friend, Jim, as sales manager at Jim Golden Ford in Camden until he retired in 2018.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Butch was a founding member of Pine Grove Deer Camp, where his favorite activity was sitting around the fire in fellowship with friends and family.  His signature laugh was the highlight of every gathering!  He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Harold Wilkins, Jr. and Lenora Anderson; his stepfather, Sam E. Anderson; his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley & Billy Neal; his brother, William Michael Wilkins; his in-laws, Jean & Alice Ratterree; and his nephew, William Michael Neal.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann Wilkins; three daughters, Allison (Chuck) Temple of El Dorado; Alicia (Brad) Risinger of Spearsville, La; and Krissi Wilkins (Chris Sinclair) of Smackover; his bonus daughter, Heather Neal (Rob) of Smackover; his sister-in-law, Gloria Greer (Lloyd) of Smackover; nephews, Jeff Greer and Jason Greer; and his niece, Angi Neal. He was also loved by twelve grandchildren; Holland Risinger (Chase Milhollen), Henley McElvain (Bailey), Charly Ann Jolley (Clay), Britani Bussell (Tyler), Wyatt (Allie), Jaxon Temple, Morgan Jameson (John), Logan Sinclair (Nycole), Eli Sinclair, Madison McLelland (Blake), Avery Neal, and Emerson Neal, and ten great-grandchildren; Taytum, Ella Kate, Heidi Jo, Lacy, Judge, Milo, Harper, Jett, Kye, and Wes.

Visitation will be at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, AR on Saturday March 7, 2026 at 10:00am with memorial service to follow.
