Jackie Ray Ross, born Franklin Stark in Dell, Arkansas July 18, 1943 entered into his heavenly home October 5, 2025. Jackie was adopted and cherished by RR and Ira Ross of Camden when he was just a baby.
Jackie attended Cullendale First Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior; and Fairview Public Schools where he loved supporting his Cardinals. Jackie met the love of his life Hilda Huneycutt while in high school. After graduation in 1961, Jackie entered the Army National Guard. Once he completed Basic Training Jackie returned to Camden in 1962 and he and Hilda were married. He began his career at International Paper as Fire Chief until its closure in April of 2001. Never one to sit still, Jackie also served as a volunteer fireman, Ouachita County Deputy, a constable as well as head cook for JR's Smoking Wheels BBQ. He loved coaching baseball, softball and chaperoning the youth of Cullendale First Baptist.
Jackie's greatest joy was his family. Jackie was preceded in death by his parents RR and Ira Ross. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Hilda, son Alan (Suzie McAllister), daughter Toni (Tony) Holderfield, grandsons Andrew (Amy) Holderfield, Houston (Sarah) Holderfield and granddaughter Anniston (Easton Wheatley) Ross, Great-grandchildren Ember, Xyan, Laryn and Declan, brothers Nelson (Doris) Stark, Frank Canfield and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jackie (often called Jack, Poppa Jack or JR) loved the outdoors. He spent many hours on Lake DeGray with a boat load of kids skiing, tubing and fishing. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, spending time with family, friends and spoiling his German Shepherd Nala. He enjoyed playing his harmonica and listening to southern gospel music. He and Hilda spent many hours playing cards with Robert & Phyllis Mays and Billy Don & Eve Holeman.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Silver Oaks, Nurses Keisha & Jeremy, Arbor Hospice, Elana Myers and Cullendale First Baptist Church family. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations to be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital or Cullendale 1st Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 PM Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Cullendale First Baptist Church. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Cullendale First Baptist Church. The burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
