Obituary

Irecia Bailey Elliott was born in Smackover Arkansas on April 3, 1941 to the late Homer and Odessa Gordon Bailey.  Irecia ended her earthly journey on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Courtyard Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in El Dorado, AR.

At an early age she joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church.  She later because one of the charter members of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church that was organized in 1952.

Irecia attended the Smackover Training School in Smackover, Arkansas.

She married Jimmy Faye Elliott and to this union three sons were born, Gary, Faye Anthony and Michael. Irecia and Jimmy Faye moved to Detroit in the late sixty.

In 1987 she transitioned back to Arkansas to become the caregiver for Mother and other family members.  When caring for her mother she also was a substitute teacher at the Smackover School District.  Late she was employed at the South Arkansas Medical Center where she would become supervisor for the environmental services of facility.  Upon moving back to Arkansas, Irecia reunited with the Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir until her health began to fail her.

Irecia lived a happy-go-lucky, carefree kind of life.  She had a positive attitude toward life.  She was upbeat and had an infectious energy that made others feel at ease. Irecia didn't sweat the small stuff and she approached challenges with a smile and a giggle, often shrugging off minor setbacks in life with a sense of humor. Her spontaneous nature and easygoing demeanor made her enjoyable to be around. She lived in the moment, embracing life's pleasures and found joy in everyday experiences.  Spending time with family and friends.

She was the only girl in her immediate family therefore becoming extremely close to her first cousins and referred to them as sisters.

Irecia is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jimmy Faye Elliott, brothers: Henry and Evon Bailey.

She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Gary Elliott of Detroit MI, Faye Anthony Elliott, Smackover, AR and Michael (Lavenya) Elliott, Shawnee Kansas; and beloved brother, Elbert Bailey of Camden, AR;

twelve grandchildren, Shagwendola Crawford, Gary Elliott, Jr., Justice Elliott, Jasmine Johnson Jones, Jaylen Elliott, Jamal Elliott, Irecia Elliott Cloyd, Micheal Elliott, Milik Elliott, Marcellus Elliott, Dewayne Taylor, and Andre Gunter; seventeen great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00AM Saturday, April 05, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church in Louann, AR with burial in New Jerusalem Cemetery.
