Star City
Hubert W. King, 89, of Star City, AR, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, with family at his side. He was born on May 15, 1936, to Charlie and Dolly King.
Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Clayton and Dolly King; his wife, Mary Louise Grant King; three brothers, Julian King (Mary), Big Bud King, and Little Bud King; and his sisters, Juanita Krumry (Tex), Dahlia Balgard (Julius), Lucille Aymond (Jackie), Patsy Kay Graves (Floyd), and Mary Elizabeth Thompson (Joe).
Hubert is survived by his son, Hubert Lee King; and by his daughter, Diane Hawkins (Thomas); brother, Buddy King; and sisters, Patricia Ann Brown, and Charlene Porter (Richard); grandchildren, Hunter Hawkins, Taylor Hawkins, Logan Hawkins, and Gharett Hawkins; and great-grandchildren, Henslee, Rylee, Broggan, Remy, and Hayes Fredrick-Authur Hawkins, a very large number of nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Louise King.
Hubert will be greatly missed by all who know him. He quickly befriended all he encountered through his good nature and quick wit. Hubert loved farming and started plowing with a team of mules at the young age of ten. He was a cotton farmer at heart but also grew soybeans and corn. Hubert went to school to be a mechanic, and was a truck driver himself, as a result he fixed trucks and tractors all over the area. He was known and loved by many. You could often find Hubert sitting outside on his front porch, it was his favorite place to be.
A service will be held in celebration of his life and legacy at 2:00 PM. on Saturday, May 9 at Moss Hill Cemetery in Bearden, AR.
