Obituary

Hilda Huneycutt Ross, 81 of Camden, Arkansas, entered her heavenly home on July 24, 2026. She was born on July 2, 1945 to Hollace and Vergie Huneycutt in Camden, Arkansas where she was raised, and spent her life serving the Lord, her family and her community.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 63 years, Jackie Ross; and her brother, Homer Huneycutt.

She is survived by her devoted son, Alan Ross (Suzie); her loving daughter Toni Holderfield (Tony); her cherished grandchildren Drew Holderfield (Amy), Houston Holderfield (Sarah), Anniston Ross (Easton Wheatley) Kendall McAllister (Hannah) and Dillon McAllister; her treasured great-grandchildren, Ember, Xyan, Laryn and Declan; her brother Joe Huneycutt; along with many nieces, nephews, and special friends who loved her dearly.

For 30 years, Hilda faithfully served as the church secretary at Cullendale First Baptist Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart and quietly lived out her faith through humble service. She never sought recognition or the spotlight, preferring instead to serve in the background wherever she was needed. Her kindness, faithfulness, and servant’s heart touched countless lives.

Known to many as “Momma Hilda,” she had a gift for making everyone feel loved and welcome. She treasured time with her family and friends, enjoyed reading, playing cards and working puzzles, and found joy in life’s simple moments.

Just four days after her seventeenth birthday, Hilda married the love of her life Jackie. Together they built a beautiful life and shared 63 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in October 2025. They used to joke they grew up with their kids. Their love and devotion to one another were an inspiration to all who knew them.

A celebration of Hilda’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 29 at Cullendale 1st Baptist Church at 10:00. Visitation will be from 9-10 and burial will immediately follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to CFBC or Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Keisha, Bethany, Stormy and Jeremy for the love and compassionate care they gave Hilda and Jackie during their time at Silver Oaks. They also extend a sincere thanks to the dedicated staff at JRMC and Affinity Hospice of Pine Bluff for their kindness and exceptional care for all during the past week.

Though Hilda preferred to serve in the shadows, the light of her faith, love and gentle spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
