Hattie Fort, 100, passed away on August 31, 2026. She was born on March 8, 1926, in Hampton, AR to Gus and Mattie Walters McRae. Hattie was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She worked in many areas of the church using her talents for the church. When her children were young, she was a true stay at home mom. Hattie made sure all the family needs were taken care of to the best of her ability. When the children got older, she took her talents and worked many different jobs and took great pride in what she was doing. Hattie enjoyed sewing, being a gardener, and putting her hands in the soil. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Hattie was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Alma Moore, Hannah Moore, Odell McRae, Lessie McRae, and Opal Diggs; her brothers, Sam McRae and Tony McRae.
She is survived by her daughter, Erma Fort; three sons, James Fort and his late wife, (Bobbie Jean), Gerald Fort and his wife, Brenda, and Frederick Fort and his wife, Lovetta; grandchildren, Mathew Fort, Kristina Fort, Catherine Fort and her husband, Bryan, Kiesha Fort, Melvin Hunt and his wife, Carmen, and Brian Bradford Fort; great-grandchildren, Liara Miller, Braya Choquette and her husband, Riley, Miles Hunt, Sebastian James Fort and his wife, Brittany Thompson Fort; great-great-grandchildren, Anthem Choquette, Arbor Choquette, and Savannah Grace Fort; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Proctor Funeral Home. There will be a visitation from 9:00AM-11:00AM before the service. The family will not be going to the cemetery due to the heat, and the committal will be held at the Proctor Chapel.
