Grover Cleveland "Pete" Perry, Jr., 77, passed away on June 17, 2025. He was born on July 5, 1947, to Grover Cleveland and Mildred Goodwin Perry in Camden, AR. Grover served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Peoria which he was awarded the Bronze Star. He worked at the Cotton Belt Railroad, International Paper, and Lockheed Martin. He was a devout Christian. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and storytelling. His greatest love was spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sharon Kay Wilson; and two sons, Robin Anthony Perry and Douglass Harding Perry; brothers and sisters-in-law, Allen and Carolyn Wilson, George and Eva Voss, brother-in-law, Raymond "Junior" Wilson; sister-in-law, Rosetta Gilliam; and nephew, Bill Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Marylue Perry of Camden, AR; sister, Ann Scott and husband, Fred of Camden, AR; daughter-in-law, Kathey Perry of El Dorado, AR; granddaughter, Maegan Perry of Hattiesburg, MS; nephews, Greg Scott and wife, Brenda, and Jeff Scott; daughter, Lisa Sherman and her husband, Mike of Camden, AR; sons, Doug Wallingsford, James Wallingsford and his wife, Amy; eleven grandchildren, Zach Russell, Shelbi Russell, Jacob Wright and his wife, Kat, Casey Sherman and his wife, Caitlin, Savannah Tullos and her husband, Josh, Kyle Wallingsford, Gage Dunn, Landen Wallingsford, Addison Wallingsford, Layne Wallingsford, and Layla Wallingsford; numerous great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ronnie Wilson and his wife, Maxine; sister-in-law, Joyce Reed; nieces, Sandy Willingham, Tessie Heath, April Wilson, Tonya Burkhart and her husband, Harley; nephews, John Voss and his wife, Debby, Irttie Wilson and his wife, Jeannie; his best friend, Alfred Key; and a host of family and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Braden, Dr. Dedman, Dr. Ramey Marshall, Dr. Cleveland, and all the hospice staff that took great care of Grover.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 2:00PM at Cullendale Assembly of God Church in Camden, AR. There will be a visitation one hour before the service. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
