Gloria Bond (Bonnie) Bensberg, age 98, passed away on July 31, 2025 in Monroe, LA surrounded by family. She was born in Castor, Louisiana on October 21, 1926 to Richard Osborn Terral and Idell N. Derryberry.
Bonnie graduated Magna Cum Laude with Department Honors from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music. She taught music in the public school system in Louisiana prior to moving to Camden, AR 1950. She was the choir director at the First Presbyterian Church for 18 years, and taught private piano and voice lessons. Bonnie went back and taught in the public school system at McNeil, AR for 2 years. She was the Camden High School Choral Director in 1968. She organized the Madrigal Group (1st name Modern Madrigal Singers).
She finally retired in 1977 to spend more time with her beloved grandchildren.
Bonnie was active in numerous civic activities including: Founding Member of Camden Community Theater, Thursday Musicale, P.E.O., Charter Member of Camden Chapter, A.C.D.A. (American Choral Directors Association), MENC (National Association for Music Education), SAS Guild (South Arkansas Symphony Guild) Elder, First Presbyterian Church, Camden, AR – Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, & Choir Member
She is survived by her children Sherry Wilson Huff, Mark Wilson, Tom Bensberg, Susan Bensberg and Eloise Bensberg, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held, August 23, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church, Camden, AR at 11:00 am.
