Obituary

George Charles Spells, 94, of Camden, AR, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in Benton, AR.   He had been with his daughter, Lana, and family since January.

He is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, and many loved ones gone before him.  What a glorious celebration.

George, born January 10, 1932, was the son of the late George Washington Spells, Jr., and Mildred Irene Black Spells, and the oldest of 9 children.  He was married to Audrey Marie Doss Spells for 64 years before her passing in March 2022.  Together they raised 3 daughters, and George's younger brother, Mike Spells.

George was a 1950 graduate of Harmony Grove High School.  In 1952, at 20 years of age, he and his brother Bobby, enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War.  Being an Air Force veteran is something he was very proud of.

After his military service, he returned to the States and began his career with International Paper Company in Camden, retiring in 1993 after 42 years.

For several years George was active in the local Civil Air Patrol.  He was a member of Cullendale First Baptist Church where he gained many lifelong friends.  George was a kind and caring man, with a quiet, sweet spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Audrey Spells; two daughters, Lisa Fields and Lori Spells; two brothers, Bobby Spells and Ronald Spells; three sisters, Martha Hutcheson, Peggy Harrison, and Barbara Faulkner.

George is survived by his daughter, Lana Jones and husband Matt of Benton, AR; three bothers, Jerry Spells (Deborah) and Danny Spells (Sue) of Camden, AR, and Mike Spells (Linda) of Stephens, AR.  He is also survived by five grandchildren who affectionally called him Pawpaw, Brooke Fields (Andy) of Des Arc, AR, Brittany Voth (Garret) of Seabrook, TX, Jordan Hood (Matt) of Benton, AR, Grant Jones (Mallory) of Benton, AR, Reagan Jones (Brittney) of North Little Rock, AR; eight great grandchildren who loved Pawpaw dearly, Caeden and Alaina Fields, Makaylah and Michael Stange, Kate and Claire Hood, and Whitley and Palmer Jones.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00PM Monday, April 6, 2026, at Proctor Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Camden.  Visitation will be one hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Cullendale First Baptist Church, 1850 Cash Road, Camden, AR  71701.
