Thomas 'Ellis' Evans, age 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children in Mansfield, Texas on September 6, 2025.  He was born on December 14, 1926, in Thornton, Arkansas to James Garfield Evans and Sarah Pamelia Ellis Evans.  He will be laid to rest at the Calaway Cemetery in Thornton, Arkansas amongst his family and community he so deeply loved.

Ellis graduated from Thornton High School in 1944, before proudly serving his country in World War II in the US Navy.  He started his banking career in 1947 and retired as the President and Chairman of the Board for First Federal Savings & Loan in Camden, Arkansas in 1989.  Ellis served as President of the Calaway Cemetery; member of the Camden Lions Club; member of the First Baptist Church of Camden; and on the Board of the Camden Country Club.

Ellis was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that was preceded in death by his wife of almost 70 years, Dorothy Adell Littrell Evans.  They met while she was teaching high school and he was working as a bank teller in Bearden, Arkansas.  They raised their family and lived in Camden, Arkansas for most of their lives before moving to Texas to be near family.  Ellis was an avid golfer, who also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and carpentry.   He will be remembered as an earnest, humble and obedient servant of Christ and a devoted family man.

Ellis is survived by his daughter Colleen and her husband Tarek Mansour of New City, NY, his two sons' Brian and his wife Karen of Mansfield, TX and Gerald and his wife Rhonda of Richardson, TX; nine grandchildren:  Chrissy Evans, Ashley Guardiola, Ian Evans, Hannah Evans, Christian Evans; Bayan Mansour, Rayah Mansour, Alex Tabary and Jessica Tabary; and eight great-grandchildren:  Clark, Eva, Ruth, Emmett, Harper, Leo, Sadie and Ayman; three of his eight siblings, Clayton Evans, Bobby Ray Evans and Sue Ann Evans Lee.

A family and friends' visitation will be held at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, Arkansas on Friday, September 19th, 2025, from 7-8pm.  A celebration of life will be held at Providence Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Thornton, Arkansas on Saturday, September 20th, 2025, at 10am.  Afterwards Ellis will be interred at the Calaway Cemetery in Thornton, AR.
