Ms. Effie Lou Nevels was born on October 09, 1949, in Dallas, Texas.  She was a homemaker most of her life, except for the time she worked at Pace, where she met her first husband, Tommy Brown, and was married for 6 years.  Then she met the love of her life, Clark Nevels, in 1997, and was married for 25 years.  She went to heaven on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Lou Cile Davis and Jeff Davis; husband, Clark Nevels; brothers, Eugene Davis (Juanita), Earl Davis, and Harvey Davis, and sister, Kathy Waddell.

She is survived by her brother, Carley Davis (Tina); her children, Scotty Brown (Tammy), Tina Brown, and Roxanne Powell (Tony); grandchildren, Brooke Godwin (Christian), Brittany Howland, Patricia Howland, Melanie Canada (Shawn), Kristi Canada, Zac Carter and Steven Mims, Brooke Beard, Bridgette (Curtis) Fisher; great grandchildren, Micah Kidd, Sibella Lovett and Gabe Carter; sister-in-law, Gail Davis; and stepdaughter, Shannon Harrell.

A visitation will be held from 9:00AM to 10:00 AM Friday, October 31, 2025 prior to the service at 10:00AM at Proctor Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery near Carthage at 2:00PM.
