Obituary

Edward Earl Lindsey, Sr., of Camden, AR, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 18, 2024. He was born in Camden on December 26, 1947, to the late Edward "Preacher" and Earline Lindsey. Ed graduated from Sparkman High School in 1967. He married Cherlyn Joan "Joanie" Walthall of Camden on June 28, 1967.

After working as the Sanitation and Street Superintendent for the City of Camden for several years, Ed entered the ministry in 1995. He was ordained with the Assemblies of God in 1998 and pastored three churches before taking the position as groundskeeper for the statewide Assemblies of God Campground in Hot Springs, AR in 2002. He worked closely with the men's division of Teen Challenge of Arkansas during that time. He retired in 2014 and relocated back to his hometown of Camden.

Ed is survived by his wife, Joanie Lindsey, daughter, Judy Lindsey Doherty (Kenneth) of Camden, son, Earl Lindsey (Angela) of Wagoner, OK, daughter, Jaquita Lindsey Jenkins (Chris) of Hendersonville, TN, sister, Edith Dunn (Dale) of Spiro, OK, four grandchildren, Blake (Kiley), Blaine, Braden and Caden, two nieces, two nephews, five step-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Known as Ed to some and "Big Ed" to most, he spent his life telling others about Jesus. Whether pastoring, mentoring, or through song, his goal in life was to lead others into a relationship with Christ.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Assembly of God church, 1275 Maul Rd NW, Camden, AR 71701 with Pastor Tony Burrow officiating. The family will receive friends and family from 1:00-2:00pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Teen Challenge at teenchallengeusa.org.
