Earl Lee Duncan, age 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on December 14, 2025. He was born on March 14, 1943.

Earl was an avid fisherman and, in his younger years, loved deer and squirrel hunting—especially with his cherished squirrel dogs. He also found great joy at home tending his garden. Earl loved gardening, canning, and grafting fruit trees, taking pride in working the land and providing for his family.

A licensed electrician and true jack of all trades, Earl had a gift for figuring things out. If he didn't already know how to do something, he would learn—and then fix it. He was known as the king of fixing things and had a remarkable talent for stretching a penny, believing there was always a way to make do and make it last.

Above all else, Earl was devoted to his family. He was the best husband, daddy, and Papaw, and his love for them was steady, faithful, and deep.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Flossie Duncan and his two brothers, Jerry Wayne Duncan and Ricky Duncan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58½ years, Jan Duncan; his sister Marie Duncan Word; his children, Deanna (Colton) Dennis and Kenny (Adrian) Duncan; his grandchildren, Kendell Eades, Kaitlin (Dillon) Moore, Lane (Cait) Duncan and Cohen Duncan. He was blessed with great-grandchildren, Jensen and Rylee Jane Moore.

Earl is also survived by his bonus family, including bonus granddaughter Briana (Justin) Calcote and bonus great-granddaughter Paisley, along with many other bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved very dearly.

He also leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and classmates who will miss him greatly.

Earl proudly served in the United States Army Reserve. He worked for International Paper Bag Pack Division until its closing, then finished his career at Gilchrist Bag Manufacturing, where he later retired.

A die-hard Tom Brady fan and proud supporter of Donald Trump, Earl was known for his loyalty, strong opinions, and unwavering convictions and maybe a little stubbornness.

Earl Lee Duncan lived a life rooted in hard work, ingenuity, thrift, and deep love for his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

We're grateful for your unwavering love and care, Adrian. As a beloved daughter-in-law and skilled nurse, you provided daddy with exceptional care, taking him to his doctor visits, managing his medicines, being there for him in his final moments and so much more. Your dedication brought daddy and us great comfort. You made a tremendous difference in daddy's life and ours and we know why he called you "his favorite nurse!"

Earl also showed great love for Deanna's and the grandkids animals.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any nonprofit organization of one's choosing that supports children or animals as he had a great passion and love for both.

A visitation will be from 5:00PM to 8:00PM Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Proctor Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be 2:00PM Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Proctor Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at later date.
