Dwight Wayne Watkins Sr.  was born September 11, 1956, to Mrs. Johnnie Malvin and Mr. Walter Dean Watkins Sr. at Ouachita County Hospital in Camden, Arkansas.

Dwight joined Zion Hill Baptist Church under the direction of Rev. Samuel Morris as a youth.

Dwight attended Camden Public Systems, where he was part of the basketball team from 6th grade throughout his senior year.  He earned the nickname "Buga Bear", "Suga Buga", and "Bear" for his notorious and ferocious skills on the basketball court.  Dwight graduated from Camden Senior High School in 1974.

While living in Camden, Dwight worked at Camden Roofing Plant, Walmart, Atlantic Research, Pak-A-Bag, and Orbit Valve (in Little Rock, AR).

On December 23, 1984, Dwight married Carlon Steward, to this union one child was born Dwight Jr. (Rambo).

Dwight will always be remembered for not only his love of basketball but loving his family and most importantly his children, and grandson.

Upon relocating to Little Rock, Arkansas Dwight married his high school sweetheart Cecelia Jeanette Sanders on May 28, 1997.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Mrs. Johnnie Malvin and Mr. Walter Dean Watkins Sr.; wife, Cecelia Jeanette Sanders-Watkins; sister's Mrs. Cathy Ann Watkins-Porchia (Phillip) of Clarksville, TX; Mrs. Sandra Kaye Watkins-Flannigan (Fred) of Camden; aunts, Ms. Dorothy Tatum of Brooklyn, NY, and Mrs. Shirley Lee of Fort Smith, AR; grandparents, Mr. George and Mrs. Mamie Jo Watkins of Carthage, Arkansas, Mr. Johnny and Mrs. Jewel Kelly of Bentonville, AR, Mrs. Cleo and Mr. Arthur Fort of Fordyce, AR.

Dwight passed away on July 21, 2024 at 9:15 pm at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia.

Dwight leaves to cherish his loving memories to his sons, Kahlil Watkins of Hampton, VA, and Dwight Watkins, Jr. (Rachel) of Little Rock, Arkansas; one daughter, Candice Coleman of Dallas, TX; one grandson, Dwight Watkins, III of Irving, Texas; brothers, Walter Watkins, Jr. (Melissa) of Camp Springs, MD, and Johnny Watkins (Pamela) of Hampton, VA;  brothers-in-law, Rev. Phillip Porchia of Clarksville, TX, Fred Flannigan of Camden, Arkansas, and Fred Sanders of Little Rock; sisters-in-law, Annette Sanders and Brenda Hogan both of Little Rock, Arkansas; adopted daughters, Elise Morris of Irving, TX, Kari Lethia Dorsey-Robinson of Forrest Hill, TX, Kia Williams of Alexander, AR, and Sabrina Steward-Clary of Camden, AR; two nephews who's lives he was instrumental in, Walter Watkins, III (Chandra) of Arkadelphia, AR, and Tyson Watkins (Yolanda) of Texarkana, TX; special friends who's been part of Dwight's life; Ms. Annie Pearl Patton, Ms. Minerva Daniels, Mr. James Williams (JC), Mr. Stanley Walker, Mr. Rolando Davis all of Camden, AR; Mr. Derek Dooley and Mr. Dennis Johnson of Little Rock, AR; and Ms. Lydia Mullins-Blake of Dallas, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00AM Saturday, July 27, 2024 at New Mt. Hebron Church with burial in Eternal Rest Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4-8 Friday at Proctor Funeral Home.
