Dorothy Sponer, 89, of Camden, AR passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023. Dorothy Sponer was born November 2, 1933, to Charles and Gayther Holtzlander in Helena, AR.  She grew up in White Hall, AR, where her parents owned a store, and she kept very fond memories of this time. She started her career as a telephone operator in Pine Bluff, AR where she made lifelong friends that she cherished always.

Pine Bluff is where she met her husband of 50 years, Charles Sponer.  They were married October 19, 1962. They bought Camden Wholesale in 1969 and moved to Camden, AR.  Dorothy continued to work as a phone operator during her relocation to Camden.   After retiring from the phone company, she went into business for herself with many ventures throughout the years, such as the Label Stable in the Old Camden Hotel, Sincerely Yours Bridal Shop and Sincerely Yours Bridal & Table Top Shop. She closed her shop in 2001. Dorothy was a devout Catholic & member of St. Louis Catholic Church since 1969. She enjoyed her time working in the public, was an avid reader, enjoyed playing games and loved anything and everything to do with Christmas. She had a great love for life by enjoying family & friends to the fullest. She was always up to; travel, shop, or host a get together.  She loved to cook and made sure she shared this with her family and friends at all times.  Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her only child, Chuck Sponer, wife Kim.  Three grandchildren; Charlie Sponer of Camden, Chad Sponer of Fayetteville, and Lilly Sponer of Fayetteville. She is proceeded in death by her husband Charles Sponer & parents Charles & Gayther Holtzlander.

Memorials may be made to St. Louis Catholic Church of Camden, AR or Alzheimer's Research Foundation.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00PM Monday, April 10, 2023, at Proctor Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 10:00AM Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Camden, AR. Father Charles Thessing will officiate the service. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
