Dorothy Jean (Dot) Mays, 79, passed away August 5, 2023. She was born on March 5, 1944, in Camden, AR to Ewell and Lois Doherty Mays. She like to crochet, but one of her favorite things to do was to get lost on purpose so she could ride around longer. She was the glue that kept the family together.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Minni and Jim Doherty; a brother, Jimmy Mays; and a nephew, Gary Dorris. She is survived by her son, Travis Mays; a sister, Patricia Mays; three nieces, Kathy Mays, Virginia Word, and Carla Wright; two nephews, Benard Smith and Eric Smith and his wife, Lindsey;  three great-nieces, Sandy Fortner and her husband, Joey,  Amber Allen and her husband, Jordan, and Twana Goodman; two great nephews, Chris Hodge and his wife, Karen and Shane Doherty; a host of great-great-nieces and nephews, Nickolas, Destiny, Malachi, Charlee, Gracelyn, Benjamin, Alexandria, Breenlyn, Ambernell, Katie, Johnathan, Piper and Brylee; and a special brother-in-law, Benard Smith; and a host of family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
