Obituary

Donald Lee Moore, 86, of Camden, Arkansas passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Conway Baptist Medical Center with his daughters by his side.

Donald was born in Camden, Arkansas on November 11, 1939 to Dale and Betty Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 40 years, Marie Moore; wife of 20 years Merry Etta Moore and son-in-law William Lemons.

He is survived by his daughters, LaDonna Nix and husband, Ronnie of Camden; and Leigh Ann Hughes and husband, Gordon of Camden; grandchildren, Keith Nix and wife, Cassi (children Isabella, Elijah, Ethan and Jules) of Winslow, Arkansas; David Nix and wife, Camie (children Callie, Riley and Libby) of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Ashley Askew and husband, Jamie (children Maddox, Adilynn, Mason and Brooks) of Camden; Jordan Holder and husband, Jacob (children Annabelle, Brookelynn and Natalie) of Camden; Derek Lemons of Camden; sisters Sandra Parker and husband, Rusty of Camden and Becky Ogden and husband, Jackie of Camden; brothers Dale Moore, Jr and wife, Judy of West Virginia and Porter Joe Moore and wife, Frances of El Dorado; and a host of other family members and friends.

He graduated from Fairview High School, class of 1957.

Donald served in the US Navy aboard the USS Lake Champlain Aircraft Carrier for 5 years and was a proud Veteran.

In his early years, he was known for drag racing and dirt track racing along with racing on any straight stretch of highway between Frenchport and East Camden. He always made sure you knew those black marks on Frenchport Road were his!

He was the owner and driver of “Thunderball” as well as the driver of the “Budweiser Corvette” for several years and could be found most Saturday nights at Prescott Raceway.

He was a well known and highly skilled mechanic at Performance Chevrolet for over 30 years. After retiring, he and his first wife, Marie, served as assistants to John and Joyce Hanson with International Missions Outreach in Haiti for 5 years where he serviced and maintained their vehicles.

Donald was a long time member of Frenchport Community Church where he served as a Deacon for several years and most recently a member of Thrive Church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his home caregivers, Cheryl and Ma’Lea; the staff at Ouachita Nursing and Rehab; and the loving ICU nursing staff at Conway Baptist Medical Center.

Visitation will be held Friday 5:00-8:00 PM at Proctor Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, at Thrive Church. Burial at Mt. Horeb Cemetery.
