Obituary

Dewayne H. Stephenson, 83, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026. He was born in Montrose, Arkansas. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He loved deer hunting and fishing and was a member of the Big Johnson Hunting Club for many years. He had a passion for flying early on and obtained his pilot license and later owned a Cessna. He also had a great appreciation for vehicles, his favorite was probably his Plymouth Fury.

He was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved serving the Lord. He stated that the most influential book in his life was the Bible.

He started his career working with his father in farming in Southeast Arkansas. However, he had other interests and possessed a great amount of mechanical skills. He wanted to pursue and further develop these skills. He moved to Dallas where he completed his apprenticeship working as a pipefitter with several mechanical contractors and for the Carrier Corporation as a chiller technician. He later started his own mechanical service company covering East Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. After successfully building the business over several years, he sold the company to Carrier Corporation and rejoined the company where he held a number of different positions in management. He was well respected by the people he worked with and those who worked for him. He was a great leader, mentor and inspiration to many.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Bill) Stephenson and his two brothers, Steve Stephenson and Jackie Stephenson. He is survived by his two sons, Delane Stephenson and wife, Beverly; Reggie Stephenson and wife, Dianne. He has three grandchildren, Preston Stephenson, Karlee Stephenson, and Georgianne Perry and husband, Nick.

He was devoted to his family and going to church. He was a warm, gentle and generous man who will be greatly missed.
