Derrell Eugene Ray, 75, of Sparkman, AR, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at his home. He was the son of the late Delmar Ray and Juanita Cooper. Derrell served his country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1973. Derrell worked various jobs throughout his life, including years of truck driving, heavy equipment operator, retiring from Ouachita County Highway Department and owning and operating his own log truck. Derrell enjoyed raising cattle, hunting, fishing, camping, and being outdoors. He loved taking care of their farm and taking care of Darlyne.

Derrell is preceded by his parents, Delmar Ray, and Juanita Cooper; brother, Raymond Ray; maternal grandparents, Grady and Nannie Mae Green; paternal grandparents, Roy and Lily Ray.

Derrell is survived by his wife of 32 years Nancy Darlyne Arnold Ray; two sons, Derrell Ray, Jr and Dewayne Ray (Mary) both of Star City, AR; two daughters, Jamie Lynn Lamkin of Fordyce, AR and Jolyne Lamkin-Tupa (Randy Mooney) of Sparkman, AR; grandchildren, Dalton Ray, Darcy Ray, Dillion Ray, Donnie Ray, Lane Tupa and Codie Jo Tupa. Derrell was the oldest of four brothers: Wayne Ray (Elaine) of Ouachita, Raymond Ray of Ouachita and Donnie Ray (Happy) of Camden.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00PM Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Ouachita Assembly of God Church. Funeral service will follow at 2:00PM at Ouachita Assembly of God Church. The burial will be in Sardis Cemetery, Pine Grove, AR. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
