Obituary

David Brent Mahaffey, 61, of Camden passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026 at his home in Camden. Brent was born on August 21, 1964 in Camden, the son of David and Hazel Tuberville Mahaffey. Brent was many things; kind, intelligent, funny, compassionate, and stubborn, plus so many more things that would be nearly impossible to choose only one single word to describe him; however, if you truly only had to choose one, the best would be loving. He always loved big and he loved loud with such excitement and enthusiasm it was contagious. A man that never met a stranger, who loved you from the moment he shook your hand for the first time. There was never a time you walked into his front door without a hug and you never left without hearing  "I love you".

Brent was also a man who enjoyed many hobbies like hunting, fishing, and he was an avid gun enthusiast, but a few hobbies were more than just things he enjoyed, they were gifts of memories and life lessons to his family that he loved more above all else. Music is the first, a man who loved, Rush, Boston, Eric Church, ZZ Top, Van Halen, and so many more., who was also a talented self-taught musician. Many nights spent with family and friends sitting in the den and pulling down an old guitar to play a song and sing with the beautiful voice he had that sewed the seed of inspiration into his daughter Kaitlyn who has dedicated her life to the love of music, that trickled down into his granddaughter Layla who follows so closely in her KK's footsteps and even into his son Blake who uses music when words are not enough. All this, from many free living room concerts and jam sessions with the family he loved so deeply.

Motorcycles would be the next, Brent loved the freedom of the open road and the different kind of peace that can only be found between mile markers on heavy iron. More than that though, he loved sharing the long trips with his beautiful wife of 40 years, Becky, the love of his life. The numbers on that Harley's odometer might not seem like much to some, but they are evidence of countless memories, laughs, stories, and so much more between two people who only had eyes for each other and all the friends along for the journey.

Lastly but not least is golf, a hobby that Brent just picked up and enjoyed, that with practice became a sport he excelled at. Once his son was old enough this hobby became a shared love between the two of them. Through many long days on the course, Blake says his dad taught him the two most important lessons in his life; one, even though you were born different you can do and accomplish anything you set your mind to, and second, keep your head down!

Brent will be missed immensely because he loved so deeply and was loved in return by so many for all the lives he touched with wisdom and understanding.

Brent was employed at Aerojet for many years, where he accomplished 'Senior Level Industrial Engineer. He was also an accomplished Industrial Engineer/Statistical Process Engineer at Lockheed, and was a certified Black Belt through Lockheed Martin, and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Camden.

Brent was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Tuberville Mahaffey and his father-in-law, Bobby Johnson.  Survivors include his wife, Becky Mahaffey of Camden, son, Blake Mahaffey and wife, Jessica of Camden, daughter, Kaitlyn Mahaffey McGee and husband, Charles of Pea Ridge, AR, his father, David Mahaffey of Camden, brother, John Mahaffey and wife, Veronica of Camden grandchild, Layla Ruth Mahaffey of Camden; and mother-in-law, Jean Johnson of Montrose, AR.
