Garland Cranford went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2023. He was 79 years old. Garland was known to many people as David. He was born on March 4, 1944, in Camden, Arkansas. He was born to Lee Roy Cranford and Margaret Sylvia Lane Cranford. David was the youngest of 5 boys. David is preceded in death by his parents and his four brothers, William (Bill Tom) Cranford, Roy Jr.(RJ) Cranford, Harrel Cranford, and Preston Cranford.
David is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Cranford and his two daughters, Paula Friesen (Ryan) and Rhonda McDonald (Darrel). He loved his grandchildren and was very proud of each one of them: Alae Al-Sabban (Gill), Rashad Krause (Shauna), Shadia Walker (Trent), Rhonah Al-Sabban , Aaliya Friesen and Chase McDonald, Chance (Caitlyn) McDonald, Tripp McDonald, Trey McDonald. He had two great grandchildren, Gabriel Lewis and Sylvia Walker.
David grew up in the Harmony Grove community where he attended and became a member of Warner Spur Assembly of God and later in life, he attended Bethel Temple Assembly of God. David graduated from Harmony Grove High School in 1962. He was a member of the National Guard. He met the love of his life when visiting his brother RJ Cranford in Pine Bluff. He married Betty April 24, 1964, and they were married just shy of 64 years. David loved the outdoors. He loved all things hunting and fishing. When he was not working, you could find him out working in the yard, on a project, hunting/fishing or preparing for the upcoming hunting season.
As an adult, David worked for Elliott's Sheet Metal for several years and he later worked for Dean's Heating and Air where he retired. David retired not once, but three times! He was a hard worker and believed in working and providing for his family.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Rashad, Chase, Chance, Tripp, Trey, and Trent.
Funeral arrangements will be provided by Proctor's Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Proctor's. Services will be Saturday, March 11th, 2023 at Bethel Temple in Harmony Grove with Cedric Walters officiating at 10 a.m. Friends and family are welcome to attend. David will be buried at Liberty Cemetery in Louann, Arkansas following services.
