David Lewis Alexander, 78, passed peacefully at home into the arms of his Savior on January 4, 2026. He was born to Cleo and Virginia Belt Alexander on September 3, 1947.

David was a graduate of Harmony Grove High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy, becoming fluent in Spanish as a translator. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and graduated at University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. He simultaneously worked for Silver Dollar City as a cave tour guide and helped construct the "Fire in the Hole" ride, both of which he enjoyed immensely.

He then married Darline Thomason Alexander, and together they moved to Memphis, where he worked for Goldsmith's as an assistant buyer.  He later returned to Camden to work for the family businesses and was a respected local businessman, managing Standard Redi-Mix and later owning/managing Standard Gravel Company. He was a member and twice President of the Arkansas Ready Mixed Concrete Association. He additionally earned his black belt in karate.

David was a devoted Christian, whose faith guided his life. Those who knew him will remember his exceptional kindness, loyalty, and generosity of time, resources, and heart.

For the last 20 years, David portrayed Santa Claus, loving the children of Camden and taking great joy in making the magic of Christmas come alive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Steve Alexander, sister-in-law Gaynelle Alexander, and nephew Stephen Alexander, whom he was devoted to raising and regarded as his own son.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Darline Alexander, daughters Laura Alexander and April (Ben) Murphy, and grandchildren Farrah and Austin, all of whom he adored. He is also survived by brothers Gary (Holly) Alexander, of Bonnerdale, and Andy (Sharon, decd.) Alexander, of Astoria, Oregon, sisters-in-law Shelba (Harold) Bradshaw of Camden, and Gail (Willis, decd.) Holton of Camden, special great-niece Allie Alexander of Hot Springs, longtime best friends Anwar Ali of Madison, Alabama, Chuck Anthony and Johnny Belt, both of Bearden, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 10, at Cullendale Assembly of God Church in Camden. His family will greet guests from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Burial at Holly Springs Cemetery will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Women's Crisis Center of South Arkansas, the organization that was close to his heart.
