Dan Martin, M.D. of Camden, AR passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026.

He was born on June 21, 1954, in Camden City Hospital on Helen Street. Parents were Dean and Leta Martin. He attended Camden Public Schools and was one of three valedictorians when he graduated in 1972. His undergraduate career was at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, AR while majoring in chemical engineering under a General Motors Scholarship. After three years he was accepted to Medical School at University of AR Medical Sciences. A New York Life Scholarship enabled him to attend UAMS 1975-79 graduating fifth in Class of 1979 followed by residency in Internal Medicine at UAMS 1979-82. In 1982 he became board certified and started a solo practice in Camden, AR which continued for 42 years. Dan also became a Fellow of American College of Physicians in 1991. He practiced under one rule: The patient comes first.

In 2011 the W.E. Hussman Award for Civic Service was presented to Dan for his community involvement. For many years he also enjoyed being a mentor/trainer to physician assistant students attending UAMS by allowing them to shadow and work with him in his clinic and during rounds at the Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden, AR. Students from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at AR State University also enjoyed this training opportunity.

Dan’s professional dedication was evident through his membership in Alpha Omega, Alpha Honor Medical Society, American College of Physicians (Internal Medicine), Arkansas Medical Society and Ouachita County Medical Society. This dedication also included continuous participation in Ouachita County Medical Center Staff meetings, committees and serving as Chief of Staff for several years.

Vacations with the family included cruise trips, Razorback games and ACP Conventions in cities that were fun and interesting. Dressing the part while sharing the life stories of people from the past as a living history presenter was a favorite hobby. Cooking hamburgers, ribs or beef tenderloin for friends and coworkers became a fun pastime. As an Elder in First Presbyterian Church of Camden, AR, not only did he enjoy an active role, but also faithfully attended the Sunday worship service. Serving on the Stewardship and Finance Committee, in addition to the Bequests and Memorials Committee, gave him great pleasure, because he enjoyed the people while providing for the church’s future.

Dan was preceded in death by: parents Dean and Leta Martin; sister, Sue Martin Hansen and husband Greg; grandparents, Bill and Willie Lee Martin; grandparents, Lee and Mary Ward; son, Aaron Lee Martin and sister-in-law, Paula Martin.

He is survived by Linda Vaughan Martin, his wife of 45 years; daughter, Leslie Robinson (Chris); grandchildren, Nora and Nathan Robinson. Also left to cherish his memory are brother, Randy Martin; nephew, Keith Martin (Wendy); niece, Vicki Willis (Ricky); and their children Thomas Willis and Tiffany Bradford (Hunter).

The family would like to extend our immense gratitude for the impeccable care received from Dr. A. Lynn Cleveland, oncologist, and her medical team at Genesis Cancer and Blood Institute. Also, thank you to Ouachita County Medical Center ER team for all their help. Heartfelt thanks go out to the community for all the prayers, love and support received during this time. Gentiva Hospice (based in El Dorado, AR) enabled Dan to be home and provided much needed guidance, knowledge and phone call access under the direction of Dr. Mimo Lemdja. Cimenga Tshibaka, surgeon at OCMC, was also a source of great comfort and skill while helping Dan during this illness.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of First Presbyterian Church, Camden, Arkansas. An 11:00 a.m. memorial service in the sanctuary will be followed by a private family interment in Memorial Park Cemetery.
