Obituary

Corey Carson, Jr. was born on October 16, 2004 to Crystal McDaniel and Corey Carson, Sr. Corey left this life and passed into the arms of his Savior on December 26, 2025.  Corey was a devoted father, brother, cousin, friend, and grandson.

He was an exceptional athlete. He played pee-wee and AAU basketball under Ron Fruit Askew and Rod A. McKinney growing up. These two men were a blessing to Corey because he loved playing basketball. They helped him develop character, leadership, and confidence that extended well beyond the basketball court.

Corey was working with his Auntie Bird doing catering part-time. At first, he didn't want to do it, but he grew to like it, and he was good at it. Corey had a smile that would light up the room. His laughter, kindness, and positive spirit we will miss and cherish. Corey left a lasting mark on everyone he met. He was pure joy, always finding the good in everyone. His memory will forever be a blessing in our lives.

He is survived by his father, Corey Carson, Sr.; mother, Crystal McDaniel; daughter, Dior Carlise Carson; grandparents, Shirley Carson, Rev. Arlin (Jackie) Carson, Brenda (Faymond) Sams; and Terry McDaniel; sisters and brothers, Tycorian McDaniel, Ja'Nisia Carson, Xavier Carson, Taneshia Bush-Carson, Jamyiah Carson, Ja'Corbyn Carson and Jordan Clary; uncles, Marcus McDaniel, Anthony (Angela) Carson, David Ison, Jimmy (Tina) Sams and Faymond Sams, Jr.; auntie, Sonya (David) Lumpkim, Sherrie Smith, Trudy (Terry) Glover, Kim Cress; and Keshia Howard; best friend, Haylie Lucas; god mothers, Candice Highsmith and Deidra Forrest; mother of his daughter, Kishaliya Doss; nieces and nephews, Preston McMichael, Kennedy Rosie McDaniel, Ja'Skyla Harrison and Royalty Brown; best friends, Ty Mitchell, JaToney McGhee and Jamarion Hopson; favorite cousins, Kylah Breland, Keona Reed, Cameron Lee, George Lee, Deija Pipkins and Trinity Smith; and a host of other first cousins, family and friends.
