Connie Sue Cope

Connie Sue Cope, 77, of Camden, AR, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026. She was born on March 21, 1949, in Hamburg, AR. She was the daughter of the late J. D. and Sue Nelson Norrell. She was a member of Cullendale Assembly of God Church, retired from Ouachita County Medical Center Hospice and worked as Director of Nursing at Ouachita Nursing and Rehab, Registered Nurse for 52 years and helped organize the Women’s Crisis Center and served as the first President.

She is preceded in death by her parents, J. D. and Sue Nelson Norrell; husband, Arthur Cope (The love of her life), sister, Debra Benson; son-in-love, Michael Proffitt; brother-in-law, Ed Smith; sister-in-law, Kay Norrell; stepfather, D.B. Jenkins.

She is survived by three daughters, Terri Brewer and husband, Russell of El Dorado, AR, Deanna Ross and husband, Jeff of Kingsland, AR and Christi Proffitt of Camden, AR; fur babies, Bella and Gracie; brother, Jerry "Buddy" Norrell of Camden, AR; two sisters, Carolyn Smith of Cabot, AR and Judith Jackson and husband, James of Camden, AR; seven grandchildren, Jessica Mahaffey and husband, Blake, Joshua Warren, Caitlin Sherman and husband, Casey, Matthew Ault and wife, Jacey, John David Ault and wife, Crystal, Averi Proffitt and Abbi Proffitt; eleven great-grandchildren, Layla, Braylee, Mayzleigh, Lynnleigh, Renleigh, Dallas, Shayne, Aleena, Haydn, Quinnlee and Skylee; host nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Memorials may be made to Arbor Hospice, Women’s Crisis Center or Animal Rescue Organizations.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 15, 2026, at Proctor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Cullendale Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
