Clarence Gregory Goss passed away peacefully from this life on March 13, 2024 with his wife of 53 years by his side.  He was born in Camden, Arkansas, on January 25, 1951, to Howell Edward and Emma Jean Word.

Well known in our community as Mr. Goss, he retired after teaching agricultural education for 28 years.  Many of these years were spent teaching at his high school alma mater, Fairview High School, from where he graduated in 1969.  He furthered his education receiving a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Education and then Masters in Education, both from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He was a dedicated member of and leader in the National FFA Organization and fulfilled the creed of belief in "leadership from ourselves and respect from others".  In his retirement, he served for 20 years on the board of directors at Ouachita Electric Cooperative Corporation.

On November 27, 1970, Greg married his high school sweetheart, Mary Beth Bussell.  They met while attending Crossroads Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.  Together they had 3 children.  He is survived by his wife, sons, Ben (Erin) of Camden and Jon (Andrea) of Glen Rose and daughter, Samantha (Phillip) of Sheridan as well as granddaughters, Megan Ashcraft, Zoe Goss, Ashley Ashcraft, Lilly Goss, Ruby Goss, Gracie Goss, Emma Goss and Macy Ashcraft; his little angel, Murphy Brown; his sister, Terri (Rick) Fortner of Sheridan.  He is loved by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, H. E. and Emma Jean; brothers, Roger and Mike Goss, and Larry Word.

His greatest love was his family.  He enjoyed camping and sitting by a fire listening to and telling stories.  He loved mentoring and teaching.  He wanted you to be the best version of yourself.  If you were ever in his class, you left knowing how to tear a ¼ sheet of paper, how to read a ruler, and how to back up a trailer.  The life lessons he taught were endless.  And if you ever got out of line, he would see you after class.  He touched many lives.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Proctor Funeral Home.

Service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 10:00AM at First Baptist Church in Smackover.  Burial following service at Mt. Horeb Cemetery in Frenchport.
