Chris D. de France, 72, of Camden, Arkansas, passed away on March 22, 2025, at his home. He was born on July 17, 1952, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dorothy deFrance, his brother, Gregg deFrance, his in-laws, Don and Margie Moninger and his son, Jon deFrance. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Sally Moninger deFrance, his son, Drew deFrance (Mary), his daughter Katie Mitchell (Steven) and granddaughter, Ellie Jane Mitchell. Brother-in-law Don Moninger (Laurie), Carolyn Ferguson (Dick) and Joyce Morningstar (Lee). Close friend and cousin Mickey Berg (Christy), other cousins Elaine Berg and Leo Berg, and a host of other family and friends.

Chris moved to Ft. Worth, Texas in 1975, after he and Sally were married and worked at General Dynamics until they moved to Camden in 1980. He loved the outdoors and found his calling as a land surveyor. Chris was the Ouachita County surveyor for many years, in addition, being the owner of de France Surveying. He loved the history of the profession, as well as history in general. If you talked to him long enough, you were bound to receive a history lesson. He greatly admired George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, along with the other founding fathers. Lewis and Clark's history was also a special interest to him. He loved to hunt and fish and kill time sitting in a deer stand watching the local wildlife. Chris avidly followed his son's (Drew) music career and his band "deFrance".. He was particularly fond of the classic bands such as the Allman Brothers, Little Feat, the Beatles, Traffic and Joe Walsh, and he loved to watch Drew perform. He was also so proud of daughter Katie's success in her career in psychology. He always told them, "You can do anything you want."

Services will be on March 26 at 2 PM at Proctor funeral home with Pastor Buddy Ratliff officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2PM before the service in Proctor chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to First United Methodist Food Pantry or the Ouachita Country Historical Society or the charity of your choice.
