Charles Wallace “Chuck” Gossett, 75, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at the Hospice of the Ozarks House in Mountain Home on September 24, 2026, after a valiant battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

He was born on November 27, 1950, in Charleston, South Carolina, to Lt. Colonel Henry and Mary Gossett. After receiving the small hospital bill for his birth, his parents liked to affectionately tease him that he only cost them a whopping $12.00.

As the child of an army officer who was stationed around the world, Chuck experienced many adventures as a youngster - from swimming in the Mediterranean Sea in Greece as a young boy, to visiting central Europe, to sailing on the Queen Mary. He told countless stories of fun he had on military bases and the lessons he learned while there.

Even with all the places he traveled, his favorite place to be was the Gossett farm outside of Bearden, Arkansas. It was a place where he always found peace and happiness, and he cherished every hour spent there. He loved being on a tractor, hauling hay, or just roaming the woods. He also loved deer hunting and occasionally wetting a line.

Chuck graduated from Southern Arkansas University with a degree in Business Agriculture. He worked for over 40 years at Anthony Timberlands, Inc. During his career at Anthony, he wore many hats, including that of plant manager. He was vastly knowledgeable of timber and the inner workings of a sawmill. Chuck was a true gentleman - his ethics second to none. His word truly was his bond and his handshake as trustworthy as a written contract.

On August 19, 1972, he married Pamela Johnson. To this union two children were born. Douglas Scott and Laney Ann. Chuck and Pam were married for 54 years, but including their time dating, they were together 56 years.

Chuck was a Christian and gave his life to the Lord at a young age. He was a long time member of the Maul Road Church of Christ in Camden, Arkansas. He was baptized as a young man and rededicated his life as an adult. Chuck had a true servant’s heart and always enjoyed helping others and expected nothing in return. After retirement, he found much joy in working at the church food pantry and was greatly touched by the people he encountered there.

Chuck loved his family and was a devoted family man. His four grandchildren named him “Poppy” and he loved them deeply and enjoyed every minute spent with them. He loved his children and grandchildren well, and the lessons he taught them will be forever treasured and never forgotten. He leaves behind a Godly example for them to follow.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Marla Gail “Missy” Reynolds, a niece, Avra Ramsay, and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife, Pam; his son, Scott Dannelley and his wife, Kristi, of Benton, Arkansas; his daughter, Laney McConnell and husband, Jason, of Mountain Home, Arkansas; grandchildren, Connor Dannelley, Cole Dannelley, Merritt McConnell and Mary Charles McConnell. He is also survived by his sister, Brenda Gossett, of Little Rock, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Stephen Johnson, of Luling, Louisiana; brother-in-law, Ronald J. Reynolds, of Fordyce, Arkansas; and two nieces, Annie Johnson and Shelby Johnson of Luling, Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held immediately prior at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Johnnie Hobby will officiate. Internment will be at Moss Hill Cemetery in Bearden immediately following the funeral service.
